杰克•康菲尔德（Jack Kornfield，1945—），生长在美国东岸的一个科学及知性家庭。1963年就读于美国新罕布什尔州达特茅斯学院（Dartmouth College），主修亚洲研究，在学期间开始学佛。1967年毕业后，即前往东南亚修学，在阿姜查主持的巴蓬寺出家，也曾经在马哈希法师和佛使比丘座下学习，并追随过西藏喇嘛、禅师、印度教上师。1972年回到美国，还俗。1976年获得临床心理学博士学位，身兼佛学老师和心理治疗师。曾与约瑟夫•戈德斯坦（Joseph Goldstein）在美国马萨诸塞州合作建立“内观禅修社”，并经常在美国、加拿大和世界各地举办密集禅修，所到之处受到热烈欢迎，为美国最受欢迎的内观禅修教师之一。他的七本著作目前译成中文的有三本——《心灵幽径》、《当代南传佛教大师》与这本《狂喜之后》。
